Everyone, even Vegans, need to let loose and pig out on stuf that's really
bad for you. The Junk-food aisle is just as fraught with dangers for vegans as
the rest of the store is. This isn't meant to be a list of ALL
the Vegan Junk-foods but a list of what Denise goes for when the munchies
attack! I'm sure she'll let me know if I miss something.
- Froot Loops:
Everyone knows what a Froot Loop is but not everyone knows that it's vegan.
- Candy Corn:
Hard to find without gelatin in them, but the search is always
on. We have found vegan candy corn!! We fund a bag of Goelitz Confections brand candy corn and the only borderline item is beeswax so if you don't have problem with that then you gots candy corn!! The bag says they are from the makers of Jelly Bellys and we found them at Albertsons.
- Cracker Jacks:
When you're really good they call you Cracker Jack!! Ummm tasty and vegan, go figure. The only bad thing about them these days is that the prizes stink.
- Wonka Bottlecaps:
Not easy to find. The seem to come out around Halloween. These are sorta like sweet tarts, but with more of a soda pop vibe going on. The root beer ones are the best.
- Wise's Onion Rings:
These guys are almost exactly like Funyuns but unlike Funyuns these are vegan. Ummmmm....
- Tropical Source Chocolate Bars
There are several different kinds of these candy bars and Denise really digs them. They're not my favorite, but when you find a vegan candy bar you don't complain too much.
- Paul Newman's Orange Dark Chocolate
Denise picked up one of these in the natural food market the other day and it was pretty good. I've never been a big fan of dark chocolate but Denise really enjoied it. Plus, it's getting harder and harder to find chocolate for Denise around here since Hershey decided to put milk products into their dark chocolate.
- Twizlers
Kendra Bradley reminded me of this one. You just can't go wrong with Twizlers, they're chewy and oh so good. Plus they're probably your best value in the vending machine.
- Alternative Baking Company Cookies
These might be a little harder to find but boy are they worth it. Big soft chewy cookies, totally vegan (says so on the package), what more could you ask for? I found them in the natural/health food store. The downside? They were 2 bucks a piece.
- Chik-o-Stix
These are pretty much naked Butterfingers. Toasted coconut and peanut butter in a handy crunchy tube-shape. I was skepical but they are really good.
- Marie Collander's Fruit Pies
Now you wouldn't think that an out of the freezer pie would be okay but amazingly these are Vegan. They are really good too, so if you're ever hankerin' for some pie give them a try.
- Good Health Veggie Stix
Don't let the name fool you. These little guys are about as healthy as potato chips. I was skeptical at first, but boy, I have a hard time keeping my hands out the bag, as does Denise. They are that tasty.
- Reese's Shell Topping
This was a supprise that it was okay for Vegans, but it is! Plus, it tastes awsome. Try it on some Tofutti®!
- Starburst Jelly Beans
Really strong and tasty jelly beans. Denise likes most jelly
beans, and like me she loves the black ones.
- Hershey's Dark Chocolate
When we can find the old formula, soon this will have to come
off the list unless Hershey gets the message and takes the milk back out of
their Dark Chocolate.
- Peanut Butter Bars
These are the little hard candies that look like little planks
with brown stripes running down them. When you see them you'll know what I'm
talking about.
- Baked Lay's Potato Chips
I personally prefer the original but she really likes
these.
- Reese's Peanut Butter Puffs
Now this is some tasty cereal.
- Root Beer Barrels
These are tasty little candies you can find all over the place,
don't taste too much like root beer tho.
- Sugar Wafers
Ummmm...Tasty, cheap and deadly to the diet. Ya can't eat just
one.
- Hydrox Cookies
Almost but not quite like Oreos.
- Tofutti
This stuff is GREAT! It tastes just like ice cream. For
an added bonus you can break up Hydrox into it.
- Ginger Snaps
Almost all brands of these are vegan, you can't eat just
one.
- Sunshine Brand Oatmeal and Rasin Cookies
You can't go wrong with cookies.
