Okay, here's the situation. If you have been here before and read my previous rant, then you know that Denise and I were on a pilgrimage to find some Tender Bits by Worthington Farms. We couldn't find them anywhere. Well, to make a long story short we finally achieved Tender Bits!! It was a happy day, the sun was shining and the birds were singing and everything seemed right in the world. Armed with this can of long sought after meat substitute I entered the kitchen intend on whipping up a masterpiece that I wouldn't think was crappy and that Denise would enjoy.
That was the plan...
I had Denise and my best bud Steve over for dinner. I was making Pad Thai noodles with veggies and the fabled Tender Bits. Dinner was prepared and we sat down to enjoy a delicous dinner when the meal took a slight turn down "what the hell is that" lane. I took a tenative bite of my creation and pondered it's flavor. I must say it was pretty darn good, the only problem was the Tender Bits. They had the consistency of warm Play-Doh and less flavor. I'm not sure to this day what they were supposed to be but I know what they were not, a good substitute for meat. I wouldn't reccomend them to anyone.
In fact the only fake meat that pretty good is the Green Giant fake hamburger. The skallops aren't too bad from worthington farms, but after the tenderbits I'm a bit hesitant to try anything else.
What this world needs is a meat substitute that is firm, that you actually have to bite into, we meat eaters need that feedback from our teeth that tells us that "YES! We're tearing into the flesh of a dead, or mostly dead animal!". This is what we want and if we can get this I'm sure that there would be more converts to the vegetarian/vegan way of life. This is the drawback this is what needs to be done. No more mushy crap that tastes like hell! Write the companies that make this crap and tell them what they Should be producing!!!
Okay....I'm done now...
If you have had similar expierences, send them to me. We'll see if we can't start some trouble!
Thanks for listening to me rant.
