Doggie Update 3/6/01!

I can't believe that it's been almost nine months since the last update. Fortunately in that time, I know that I shouldn't say this, we have had no snake incidents. Fortunately things have been pretty quiet on the dog front until recently.

First things first. I see that in the last update I said that I had made an appointment to get Fred fixed. Well, he came through that like a trooper. Once he got sedated he was a much better dog at the vet, no barking or growling or anything. I picked him up that afternoon and Fred was a stoned little dog. He just sat there with thoese far away eyes. A little recoup time and he was back to his old self.

Fast forward to three weeks ago. I'm playing with the dogs out back, Denise hadn't gotten home from work yet. I'm throwing the balls and they're chasing them and catching them, nothing unusual. Suddenly C.C., who had never taken a real interest in the balls before, decides that she wants to play with the balls, as I'm tossing one to Fred. In an instant, I have a dog fight. C.C. had tackled Fred when all of a sudden, Taz jumps in and drags C.C. off Fred. Now C.C. and Taz are going after each other. By this time I have the hose and am hosing them down. Down the house, around the corner and all the way up to the front of the house before the let go of each other. C.C. is largely unscathed, Taz's ear was badly chewed on. Fortunately, Denise has skilz and she fixed Taz's ear, over the next week or two. So, Taz is all healed up and there have been no incidents since then. Oh, did I mention that I had to play a softball game that night? Kinda messed up my concentration a bit...sometimes...

Fast forward to Sunday. We have a early morning thunderstorm. Fred freaks during thunderstorms, even while inside. So they knocked down the wall that keeps them in the kitchen/dining room. We put them back, then I hear another jingle. Fred's gotten out by himself this time and roaming the house. Instead of putting him back in the kitchen we decide to keep him in the bedroom with us thinking that that might calm him down.

No such luck, I'm half asleep when I get a whiff of something. I wait to see if it passes thinking Fred must have farted. I hoped that Fred farted.....

Fred didn't fart. He scared the poop out of himself, in our bedroom!!! Well, you just can't sleep through something like that so Fred gets put into the bathroom while we clean up his accident (which was a ton easier than you might expect). Strangely, this seems to calm him down for the rest of the morning.

Aren't pets wonderful?
